You’re invited – ‘Nature Through Many Eyes’ – Community Art Exhibition

I’ve just finished setting up for the local community exhibition at Hillsborough Pavilion which will feature some of my work and some from members of art club. I’d love you to come and see it!

🌿 Come and have a look

📍 Hillsborough Pavilion (by the bowling green)

Tonight — Saturday 29 August, 5–8pm
Tomorrow — Sunday 30 August, 11am–5pm

I’ve been invited to share some of my own work, and members of my Art Club have also agree to exhibit their work alongside me. It feels very special to be able to celebrate their creativity and share some of the things we’ve been making together.

There are lots of local artists and makers taking part, so it should be a lovely opportunity to have a look around, support local creativity and perhaps find something you love.

And if you’re able to come, please do come and say hello!

Nature through many eyes

One of the things I love most about Art Club is seeing how differently people respond to the same starting point. We might explore a particular focus, technique, material or idea, but everyone takes it somewhere slightly different. There is no single “right” way to make something — and that’s one of the things I hope people feel when they come to my sessions.

For this exhibition, I wanted to bring together some of that work and celebrate the creativity of the people who come along each month. It feels really special to see them all together.

And, of course, there is a little bit of nature journalling…

I’ve included some of my own nature journals because they are such an important part of my creative practice and of what I’m trying to share.

For me, nature journalling isn’t about creating a perfect botanical illustration. It’s about slowing down, looking closely and recording what catches your attention. That might be a leaf, a bird, a colour, a pattern, the changing light — or simply something that makes you stop and wonder.

I’ve also made some little “first nature journal” cards for visitors to take away and have a go themselves.

Because you don’t need to think of yourself as an artist to start noticing.

Come and support the Art Club artists

I’m particularly excited that the exhibition gives me the chance to share the work of the people who come along to Art Club.

It’s one thing to spend an evening making something together, but quite another to see your work displayed in an exhibition.

So if you’re around this weekend, come along, have a look and give them some support.

And if you see me there, please come and say hello — I’d love to see you!
