I’m really excited to share that, as promised, Art Club will be continuing into the Autumn.

This is a monthly club aimed at everyone! There is a focus on drawing and painting but this term I’m also going to introduce some simple printing techniques – because they are fun!

Each week is a stand-alone class, but join regularly and really see your skills improve. The sessions will each focus on a different theme and introduce a new skill, medium or technique. Don’t worry if you’ve not picked up a pencil since school – it’s a relaxed and friendly group where all are welcome, from the more experienced artists to the absolute beginners.  

I run another club for children, and I am also planning more Family Workshops (watch this space!) so this one is really for grown-ups. The minimum age to attend is 14 years old. 14-16 year olds will need to be accompanied by an adult.

What will you need?

I have planned to use just a few basic resources so you can have your own and continue your practice between sessions. All the sessions will focus on the use of pencil and watercolour. You can bring your own or I can provide a resource pack. This will include a sketchbook, a set of graded pencils and a set of watercolours – all for £20.

Session Overview:

Thursday 26th September	Portraits Practice exercises that will help you draw portraits in proportion. Learn to add colour using watercolour paints.
Thursday 24th October	Pumpkins and other veg! Enjoy a harvest session looking carefully at the shape, tone and texture of harvest vegetables and using watercolour to capture these.
Thursday 28th November	Introduction to printing In this session I’ll introduce you to simple relief printing techniques using lino and rubber blocks. We’ll experiment with repeated patterns using printing ink blocks and try creating multiple prints using rollers.
Thursday 19th December	Something Festive! We’ll continue with our printing experimentations this week and create either a Christmas card or table place settings.
